Swim Preparation
Preparing for the Swim Assessment
During Assessment & Selection (A&S), you are expected to perform proficiency in a number of swimming techniques. These includes the USMC side stroke and/or breast stroke, and a 11-minute tread in your utility uniform.
Additional aquatic preparation guidance can be found on page 23 of the 10-week training guide and log.
Amphibious Training & the 2K Fin
Amphibious training provides Marine Raiders with specialized skills needed to operate in diverse environments. During Phase 1 of the Individual Training Course, students learn to operate, navigate, and build the small watercraft known as the zodiac. They are continously evaluated, mentally and physically tested, and must perform a 2k fin in the open ocean prior to proceeding to the next phase of training.
